To get to know him better, we asked him a few questions about himself and his plans for the Rhine-Main area.

Hello Dr. Zulauf, how nice of you to make time for us. How do you do? How are you?

Hello Mrs Moschkau, hello Mr Raffetseder.

I’m fine, thanks for asking. I like to take the time for the interview, because I am now the new face of the weyer group in the Rhein-Main area and it is important to me that our existing customers as well as potential new customers get to know their future contact person.

What were your previous stations and tasks in your professional career?

Prior to the weyer group I worked for two other engineering design offices where I handled and managed EPC projects for the nuclear, oil & gas and chemical industries.

I spent the first years of my professional career as a planning engineer in process engineering. My tasks included the preparation of typical process engineering documents in the various project phases of conceptual, basicand detailengineering. My tasks also included the procurement, factory and site acceptance of components as well as customer training.

As Project Engineer or Project Engineering Manager it was my task to coordinate and technically guide the different engineering disciplines.

As project manager I finally took full responsibility for the budget and deadlines.

Why did you decide to join the weyer group?

The weyer group offers a unique product for me, namely the bundling of engineering and consulting services. This enables us to plan process engineering plants as well as to provide all necessary expert opinions and all this from one source. This enables us to plan process engineering plants as well as to provide all necessary expert opinions and all this from one source.

This means only one interface and enormous time savings for the customer.

And I can speak from experience:

One of my projects was about explosion protection and the question of the correct zoning. It was very time-consuming for me to find an expert for this. First of all, when you are looking for a subcontractor, you have to obtain several offers in order not to give any of the companies a competitive advantage. But that means time and patience, because an inquiry specification must first be drawn up to obtain a quotation. The subcontractors often have questions or need clarification regarding the inquiry specification, which is connected with longer telephone calls. After all questions have been clarified, the sub-suppliers need time to prepare the quotation. Once several quotations have finally been received, they must be evaluated technically and commercially to justify their own decision to place the order.

Secondly, once a subcontractor has been found and commissioned, it is a question of order processing, which by its very nature can be made much more efficient with internal resources than with external resources.

What do you expect from the new Rhein-Main office? Is there something you are particularly looking forward to and where do you see the greatest challenges? Is there anything you are particularly looking forward to and where do you see the biggest challenges?

I will initially share the office with a colleague at the BDO branch in Frankfurt. The medium to long-term goal is to build up an engineering team. When the time comes, we will look for a suitable office building in the Frankfurt area. The medium to long-term goal is to build up an engineering team. Once the time comes, we will look for a suitable office building in the Frankfurt area.

My tasks in the weyer group are versatile. In the beginning, however, the focus is on acquisition. I would like to address our regular customers as well as acquire new customers. And I am especially looking forward to presenting the versatile possibilities of the weyer group to the customers.

Customer acquisition and building up another engineering team are also the biggest challenges for me.

Why did you choose the Rhein-Main location?

The Rhein-Main location was chosen for three reasons:

  1. Due to the location of the parent company, the weyer group is strongly represented in western Germany and has branches in northern, eastern and southern Germany. Although the southern part of Germany has been covered by the Nuremberg office up to now, the main focus has been on Bavaria. Therefore, the south-western area of Germany has not been covered enough so far. Therefore, the south-western area of Germany has not been covered enough so far.
  2. Two of the economically strongest metropolises, namely Rhine-Main and Rhine-Neckar, are located in the south-western region of Germany and are home to about one third of Germany’s chemical parks. This location in particular therefore offers enormous potential This location in particular therefore offers enormous potential
  3. Finally, customer proximity to our existing customers in the region was also a strong argument for the choice of location.

You are currently the only employee of horst weyer und partner gmbh in the Rhein-Main office. Do you nevertheless cover all engineering and consulting services of the weyer group? Do you nevertheless cover all the engineering and consulting services of the weyer gruppe?

Through my previous professional career, my strength lies in engineering services. Nevertheless, I will also be the first point of contact for our clients for services in the consulting area and will be supported in this by the experts of the weyer gruppe.

What do you consider to be the key to good customer loyalty?

For me, a fair and open approach to people as well as on-time and high-quality project management are the basis for a satisfied customer. And a satisfied customer will also ask us for his next project. This is what makes for good customer loyalty for me and that is also my goal.
